One Tap Is All It Takes
Overflow Tap utilizes NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, allowing your guests to connect directly to your organization’s donation link, landing page, or website with just a tap of your phone. ⚡️
📲 For iPhones (iOS)
Most iPhones come with built-in NFC that lets your guests scan a Tap device without needing a separate app! ✅
- 🤳🏽 iPhone XS and Newer: Simply bring the top of their phone close to the Tap device, and a notification should appear.
- 🔦 iPhone 7 to iPhone X: They may need to enable the NFC Tag Reader in their Control Center first.
Tips to Make It Work
- 🔓 Make sure their phone is unlocked.
- ✋🏽 Hold it close to the Tap device for a few seconds.
- If nothing happens, swipe down from the top-right corner of their phone and tap NFC Tag Reader (for iPhone 7–X).
- If they're prompted, tap Open in Safari or their preferred browser.
- 🪫 If their phone is in Low Power Mode or Airplane Mode, NFC may be disabled.
🤖 For Android Phones
Most Android phones come with NFC functionality, but it might need to be turned on first. Check out this video for a quick walkthrough! 🛠️
To Enable NFC
- ⚙️ Open Settings.
- 🛜 Select Connected devices or Connection preferences.
- ✅ Look for NFC and make sure it’s turned on.
Tips to Make It Work
- 🔓 Make sure their phone is unlocked.
- ↩️ Hold the back of their phone close to the Tap device until they see a notification.
- While the middle of the phone is usually the best spot for a connection, some Android models have their NFC reader near the top or bottom instead.
- If it doesn’t scan immediately, try moving their phone slightly.
- 🖥️ Tap the notification to view the link in their browser.
💭 Still Having Trouble?
We recommend trying these additional troubleshooting tips:
- 📡 Confirm their phone supports NFC.
- Most modern smartphones support NFC, so all Tap devices should work smoothly!
- Some older or budget smartphones may not have NFC functionality (e.g. iPhone 5s or earlier, Samsung Galaxy A10 or A01, or Moto G Power).
- If you’re unsure about their phone’s NFC capabilities, you can check their phone’s specifications or contact their device’s manufacturer.
- 🔄 Restart their phone and try again.
- 🛡️ Remove any thick or metal phone cases, which can sometimes block the signal.
- 🤝🏽 If needed, feel free to provide your guests a direct link as a backup.
