As part of Overflow’s commitment to serving a global donor base, international donors can now complete the giving process using email-based identity verification, eliminating the requirement for a U.S.-based phone number.

✅ How It Works

Donors outside the U.S. can verify their identity using their email address, allowing them to complete a gift without SMS validation. This update improves accessibility while maintaining donor profile accuracy and transaction integrity.

🔁 Profile Matching & Data Hygiene

Overflow’s donor matching logic uses available identifiers—email, name, and phone (if provided)—to locate and associate incoming gifts with existing donor records.

• If a match is found, the gift is appended to the existing profile.

• If no match is found, a new profile is created.

• In cases where partial or duplicate profiles exist, Support can assist with data cleanup to avoid reporting fragmentation.

To prevent unnecessary duplication:

• Encourage donors to use the same email consistently when giving.

• If a donor encounters difficulty accessing their profile, contact Support to validate and consolidate related records.

🛠 Recommended Actions for Admins

If your organization serves international donors, missionaries, or global partners:

• Consider noting on your giving page that email verification is now supported for international donors.

• Proactively monitor for duplicate or incomplete profiles using familiar identifiers.

• Submit a ticket to Support if you suspect any record conflicts, or if you need assistance with profile reconciliation.

If a donor attempted to give using a non-U.S. number in the past and now tries again using email, there may be a partial record from the earlier attempt. Support can manually consolidate these profiles to ensure a seamless giving and login experience.
