When you connect to your bank through Plaid, you might notice account number information that seems unusual or does not match your records. Don’t worry!

🔒 Secure Connection

  • Some financial institutions, like JPMorgan Chase Bank, connect to Plaid using a secure API, which may provide a Virtual Account Number (VAN) or a Tokenized Account Number (TAN).
  • Data Encryption: The secure API ensures that your banking information is encrypted during transmission, adding an extra layer of protection against unauthorized access.
    • 🧾 For ACH transactions, your confirmation receipt may display the last 4 digits of a VAN, instead of the last 4 digits of your actual account number.
    • This may also apply to any bank account numbers saved to your Donor Profile.

🏦 Account Protection

  • VANs and TANs ensure your actual bank account number is not shared with apps or services.
  • Enhanced Security: By using virtual numbers, your financial information remains confidential, reducing the risk of fraud.

⛔️ No Impact on Transactions

  • The use of VANs or TANs will not impact the status of your ACH transaction, your ability to make donations, or your capacity to receive refunds.
  • Consistent Functionality: Your banking experience remains seamless, ensuring that all transfers and payments proceed as expected.
